I would like to leave a comment on Mending the Rescue Wall.
I have been turned down (no reason given, just did not hear back from them). I’m not sure why I was turned down, but I’d like to say that I have ‘mothered’ many dogs, such as 1) a Keeshond lived to 16, died of old age. 2) Cockapoo lived to 16 died of old age. 3) Lab lived to 11 1/2 died of cancer. 4) mixed terrier lived to 15 died of old age. 5) Lab lived to just over 12 was diabetic for 2+ years died of cancer. I now have 2 beagles approx 6-7 years old. I’d like to adopt another lab, but I’m sure other pkaces would turn me down (maybe because my house doesn’t sparkle) or whatever reason they could think of. I happen to agree with the article from Slate. The last dog I applied to adopt (the one with no reason given to be turned down) was ‘living’ at a kennel in this area, so fostering with lots of love and training does not apply. Guess if I really want to have another dog I’ll also have to find a breeder who will allow me to have one.
